"AI built to guide, not ghostwrite.
This is how AI should have been used in education all along."
Johnny López Figueroa is a Literature Teacher and Research Advisor at Commonwealth-Parkville School in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and the Founder & CEO of ExpoLeap Workshops™ LLC. With over a decade in the classroom — from Philadelphia to The Palmas Academy to CPS — Johnny has built one of Puerto Rico's most rigorous student research programs from the ground up.
His Continuous Support Model and AI Use Rationale system — the Accept, Modify, or Reject framework that requires students to provide written justification for every AI suggestion — were developed by Johnny and now power ExpoARCH™. The AI Use Rationale places students in a metacognitive state throughout the research process, deliberately integrating Puerto Rico's Department of Education five-level AI integration scale as the scaffolding backbone. He built ExpoARCH™ in 48 days and registered it with the USPTO, U.S. Copyright Office, and Puerto Rico's Department of State. He is a published academic researcher, former PRTESOL Executive Secretary, and TPA Teacher of the Year (2018).
He is currently an Ed.D. Candidate in Education with a specialty in Technology at Universidad Ana G. Méndez (Gurabo), with a concentration in Curriculum and Learning Environments, where his doctoral research examines generative AI adoption among graduate students and its effects on academic writing.
Whether you're looking to launch a research program, certify your faculty in AI literacy, or bring ExpoARCH™ to your institution — let's start the conversation.
